PERTH WEB NEWS:
ELIZA: This short film had
many of our (paid) actors in it and I received a short and sweet
email from Director David Vincent Smith for Seventh Continent
Productions thanking me for the "great to work with" cast. These
included Leanne Curran
Holly Barrett
Bob Charteris
Joshua Maiolo
and Helen
Vogiatskais
. I Look forward to
seeing the film after post production.
METCALF PLAYHOUSE: Angelique
Malcolm
, who recently received good reviews
as Samuel Sawnoff in 'The Magic Pudding' is very happy as John
Secznuck has once again offered her a role, but this time in
'Aladdin' the pantomime. Bring back more pantomime I say
- I grew up on it as a child and I do believe it ensured that I
would be a devoted theatre goer in my adult
ilfe.
MAJ MONOLOGUES: for those of
you struggling playwrights trying to be funny, sad, deep,
funny or frivolous in the Maj Monolgue comp this year blame
our wonderful actor Kym Bidstrup
. He won the suggested topic "Modern Gods". Isn't
that great? This creativity wins him four seats at the finals with
a cheese platter and Stella Bella wine. Congratulations Kym.
:)
MEAA AWARDS: A new venue for
the awards this year, this time at The State Theatre in The
Underground Studio. It worked quite well I thought. I sat with
Paige Newmark and his tiny but capable, assistant, former
ballerina Katie Kent. Congratulations to our actor, "when he's
here", director Adam Mitchell who was nominatedfor Best Direction
and our quirky Georgia King
, Kingsley Judd
and David
Gregory all nominated for Best
Actor somethings. They did not win but what an honour
nonetheless. I was very proud, as they should
be.
WEST AUSTRALIAN OPERA:
Currently on stage in 'Falstaff' on His Majesty's stage
are: actors Joshua Walker and Tobias Cook with Young 1 Amy Hudson
making her first appearnace on His Majesty's
stage. Amy's CV is longer than most of my adult actors and
she's only twelve years old. In fact while on the subject of her I
received an email from film producer Lil Mathison saying what
an amzing actress and extremely well mannered girl that she was.
One long day filming with no complaints. In fact in between takes
she amsued herself writing her own scripts for film and
stage.
In the meantime the 2012 Brochure has been being prepared and there are some absolutely STUNNING photos of our actors scene (pun) here courtesy of West Australian Opera. Newly appointed Lara Lingtuingh (from Melbourne and gorgeous!) wanted actors rather than models because she wanted strong emotional work.
'Elektra' Zoe
Pepper
'The Pearlfishers' Andrea Ross

'Madam
Butterfly' Danielle Blanche
Lucia Di
Lammermoor was Scene model Kaitlyn
Barry All beautiful women but hardly
recognisable. ALL four girls loved the job and
asked for 'more like this please'. Hopefully they'll help put
younger bums on seats. Personally, I really enjoy opera and
think that everyone should at least give it a couple of trys before
deciding their prejudices either way.
SILVERCHAIN: While on the
subject of voice overs - our actor and opera singer Tim
Schoenmakers
did
double duty fronting the TVC as a caring doctor and voicing the TVC
too.
CSBP TVC: It is just so good,
this regional commercial produced by The Brand Agency with
production from Good Oil Films and starring laid back, perfect for
the role, as a father & farmer, Brendan
Kerkvliet. Truly he looks like
"the real deal". One for the showreel but he's got a full one
already!
